Thank you, Ireland!

We said NO the first time round, so the second time we were not asked.
I'm sure that, had they asked, our answer would have been NO again.

Having been made powerless, it is with great joy that I see the Irish saying NO.
You were the only ones that could.

I am so very grateful.

PS in the end it won't make much difference, they will find a back door to push it through just like they did with us. But every NO makes it harder in future for them to pretend this has been a democratic process and that Europe is a democratic institution. It is NOT. Which is one of the reasons why, even though it contains many really good things, I am fundamentally opposed to the constitution/treaty.

Yes, YES, I knew it.
It's already starting:
Mr Barroso said Europe's governments would now have to decide what to do next but he called on other members states to ratify the treaty.

"I believe the treaty is alive and we should now try to find a solution," he told reporters in Brussels.

He said he had spoken to Irish prime minister Brian Cowen this afternoon, who had insisted that the no vote should not be seen as a vote against the EU.

And still they are surprised when people vote resoundingly NO, whenever they get the chance to speak... a more undemocratic attitude I yet have to come across. Our current democracy, our rights, our constitution, it was won over hundreds of years and much bloodshed. It's being sold from under us as rapidly as they can, by a bunch of cynical businessmen and self-interested politicians.
